About Me
My name is Nicole, and I’ve spent my entire life steeped in stories. Before I even learned to read, I was holding them, studying them and trying to figure them out. Once I began reading, I never seemed to stop, devouring different worlds and stories every chance I got. I read across all genres, not limiting myself to one story or format. I love everything from romance and fantasy to science fiction and horror. Some of my favorite authors include Seanan McGuire, V.E. Schwab, T. Kingfisher, Diana Gabaldon, Larry McMurtry, M.R. Carey, Stephen King, Michelle West, Catriona Ward, Kat Howard, Alice Hoffman…and so on. (I could really go on!). Discovering a new author and their catalogue of books is like opening a door into numerous worlds. And that is where I come in. Whether you’re a new or published writer, you have a head full of stories that you are trying to put on the page. Writers see the threads of their story in a way no one else ever will, and that’s incredibly special. I’m here to help you find out what works and what doesn’t. I have a keen eye for grammar errors and overused words. I can help you discern your plot holes, need for further character development and try and help you enhance your story so that when it’s finally finished, you know not a single word has been left untouched and it is as ready for publication as it will ever be, but it will also be exactly the way you wanted it to be all along. While writing books is often a solitary process, every writer needs someone to stand beside them and help them get their book into the hands of readers. Give me a chance to work on your story and uncover the best of your writing, and you will not be disappointed.
Experience
Choosing an editor is an important choice. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Stony Brook University, and I was lucky enough to study under some of the most brilliant professors in this field. During this time, I honed my writing and editing skills, even completing an independent study with Professor Andrew Flescher, editing his book Moral Evil. I also worked professionally as a Proposal Writer for two years with a background screening company. I wrote and edited proposals and helped edit and maintain a large database. Additionally, I have had my poetry published in the following publications: Unleashing Satellites, Suffolk County Poetry Review, Brief Wilderness Magazine and Bards Annual. I am a member of the Editorial Freelancer Association. I will never stop the continued education and research necessary to maintain abreast of everything there is to learn in the editing and writing fields. I have also worked previously with several writers, both published and unpublished and their testimonials can be found on my site.
If you want more information about my editing services or experience, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
