As listed below, I offer an array of editing packages to meet your editing needs. I specialize in getting novels, short stories, novellas ready for their next step whether it be developmental, line editing or proofreading. I also have extensive professional business writing experience, so please see those below packages if your needs are geared toward business editing or resume review. All of my fiction packages can cover any genre.

Developmental

This focuses on the story as a whole and concentrates on the following areas:

Pacing
Plot
Overall structure
Setting
Character development
Dialogue

This includes in depth commenting in the manuscript itself as well as an edit letter. Additionally, all writers can send additional questions via email following receipt of the notated manuscript and edit letter. I will always be happy to continue to discuss the story as you continue to shape it. Please note, this is for stories over 50,000 words in length.

This package also includes what I refer to as a ‘further resources’ guide. After reading your story, I will provide you with a document listing additional resources such as books, articles, essays, etc. that can help improve identified areas of your story and also provide you with new perspective.

Rate: $0.014 per word

Line Editing

This package is for when your story is pretty sound developmentally, but you’re looking to have someone go line by line and focus in on the following:

Word choice
Repetition
Clarity and flow
Dialogue
Passive voice

This will include full commenting and tracked changes with suggestions to improve the overall structure of the story.

Rate: $0.011 per word

Proofreading

When your story is completed, you’ve had it developmentally edited, beta read and line edited, but you want to have it read through one more time to make sure nothing is missed, this is the package for you. This is a line by line edit where I will focus on the following items:

Typos
Grammar errors
Punctuation

Beta Reading

The beta reading package is similar to the developmental edit package but is for writers who are looking for initial feedback on their story. If you haven’t worked with an editor yet and are trying to decide where to go next, this is a good package for you.

While this package will include in document commenting, it will not include a full edit letter, but I will still send a brief summary of my notes via email.

Short Story Package

The short story package will combine developmental editing, line editing and proofreading. I will focus on the following areas:

Plot
Overall structure
Setting
Character development
Dialogue
Typos
Grammar
Repetition

This includes in depth commenting in the manuscript itself as well as an edit letter. Additionally, all writers can send additional questions via email following receipt of the notated manuscript and edit letter. I will always be happy to continue to discuss the story as you continue to shape it. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have multiple short stories you are looking to have edited as I will offer a multi-story discount! Please note, this is for stories under 20,000 words in length.

Poetry Editing

Have a poem or several poems that you want edited? This package includes a concentration in the following areas:

Language
Structure
Word Choice
Rhythm
Line Breaks

You will notice that my editing rate for this package doesn’t exist in monetary terms (at least at this time). While I have published multiple poems, I do not claim to be an expert in editing poetry. I would like to build my experience in this area and help future poets hone their craft. I will read up and comment on up to five poems at one time (per writer) as my schedule and other bookings allow it. All I ask is that you fill out a short survey afterward to provide feedback on my editing.

Reread

If I’ve read your story for any of the above packages, you can repeat the experience. This can be tailored to a specific package above (such as developmental, proofreading, line editing, etc) or it can be a combination of the three. This will include an edit letter. I’m happy to read an entire manuscript or short story over as many times as it takes for you to be happy with it.

Novella Package

The novella package will combine developmental editing, line editing and proofreading. I will focus on the following areas:

Fiction Sample Edit

If you’re unsure you want to fully sign with an editor, I will provide a sample edit of a story that you’re looking to book. This will include markup of 5-10 pages of the story for your review and a short summary of my initial impressions via email. A sample edit can only be offered on novella or novel length stories.

Non-Fiction Services

Resumes

In a world that is becoming more and more dominated by AI, more job postings are being flooded with AI generated resumes. Some of these are being flagged and immediately discarded by companies. Whether you’re looking to start writing your resume from scratch or you need someone to edit the resume you currently have, you’ve come to the right place. My resume services include the following:

Proofreading and editing
Content enhancement
Formatting and design
Customization

The cost of this service will depend on the content involved- creating a new resume from scratch will cost more than editing one you already have.

RFP (Request for Proposal Editing)

I have two years of professional experience writing and editing RFPs in a variety of industries. This included the creation of content based on provided information, design and format of proposals and contact with subject matter experts. My editing services will focus on any of the following areas:

Grammar errors/typos
Clarity and conciseness of content
Formatting and proposal design
Flow and structure
Adherence to RFP guidelines
Accuracy and completeness

The cost of this package will highly depend on the size and scope of the proposal in question. I am happy to provide a sample edit for projects of this scope and size.
